Using tiny holes, known as sutures, to replace the traditional method of making an entire incision across the eyelid, our scarless eyelid surgery technique boasts of zero scarring and a quicker, smoother recovery.
This technique, also called suture blepharoplasty, requires the plastic surgeon to assess your eyelid anatomy and facial features to determine the best placement for the sutures. Usually, about 3 sutures are needed for each eyelid. Delicate stitches are then made on the eyelids according to the predetermined suture placements.
With Dr Leo’s experience and surgical precision, this technique of blepharoplasty takes about 30 minutes to complete. It is performed under local anaesthesia and has a shorter downtime of 3 to 5 days. In general, suture blepharoplasty is better suited for younger patients with minimal loose skin or fat excess.
Suitable for: Double eyelids
A trusted technique that has produced proven, lasting results, incision blepharoplasty by Dr Leo can be performed to address a number of cosmetic or medical issues, including monolids and droopy eyelids.
Incision blepharoplasty is the conventional method of creating double eyelids and removing eyelid skin and fat by cutting. Dr Leo typically uses a knife or laser to make an incision across the entire span of each upper eyelid. Thereafter, the skin is stitched to the deeper tarsal tissue to create an additional fold. In the case of ptosis or baggy eyelids, excess fat and skin on the eyelids are removed before the stitching.
Patients with puffy eyebags may opt for incision blepharoplasty for the lower eyelids. Similar to upper eyelids, lower blepharoplasty involves making a tiny incision beneath the lash line for easy removal of unwanted fat and tissue. During the surgery, Dr Leo will also be tightening the muscles around the eyes to enhance the eyelid’s contour.
Done under local anaesthesia, this incision blepharoplasty technique takes 1 to 2 hours, with a slightly longer downtime of 10 to 14 days. However, the resulting eyelid creases are also more permanent compared to scarless eyelid technique.
Suitable for: Double eyelids, Droopy eyelids, Eyebags, Ptosis
The TransConjunctival approach is a simple, scarless technique of getting rid of eyebags. As its name suggests, via this method, Dr Leo makes tiny incisions on the conjunctiva—the inner lining of the lower eyelids—so as to remove excess fat pads and skin. What this means is any incision and scarring would be hidden externally from sight.
After making incisions on the inside of each lower eyelid, excess fat will be identified and intricately removed, before being sutured up. During the surgery, excess eyelid fat can also be redistributed to other areas around the eyes, typically the tear troughs, which tend to hollow out with ageing.
The TransConjunctival approach can be combined with other eyelid surgery techniques such as scarless eyelid technique and incision blehpharopasty. It can be done under 90 minutes with local anaesthesia.
